Scituate Village, Scituate, MA

This proposed apartment complex for residents over the age of 55 was designed for wooded, gently sloping site in a residential section of Scituate. Grouping all the units in one building allows the residents to have safe, convenient access to the centrally-located common amenities. As a change from the perfunctory Colonial style common for low-rise apartment houses in New England, we turned to a cottage vernacular from Old England, with brick for the ground floor walls, stucco above, and touches of half-timbering.
