The original Sacred Heart Church, designed by Patrick Keely in 1875, was destroyed by a fast-moving fire. Our design for the rebuilt church is by no means a copy of its predecessor, but we did adhere to its Victorian Gothic style. A centrally placed tower dominates the brick and cast stone exterior. The interior is also Gothic in both spirit and detail; we designed the new marble altar and sacrament house, granite baptismal font, and oak furniture. High-quality stained glass windows, salvaged from closed churches in Boston, Lowell, and Lawrence, endow the new church with tangible links to the past. (The S/L/A/M Collaborative 2007)
