New American House, Minneapolis, MN

This design for a group of six attached houses on a cul-de-sac received an honorable mention in a competition sponsored by the Minneapolis Institute of Art.  The sponsor’s program stressed two main objectives: flexibility in plan, to accommodate a variety of family structures and live/work scenarios, and compatibility with the existing one- and two-family houses in the neighborhood.  Our response shows that innovative internal planning can readily be combined with a traditional external treatment.
